Akakura Kanko

Akakura Kanko Resort is a refined ski destination in the Myoko area of Niigata Prefecture, offering 10 well-maintained courses across a 760-meter vertical drop from 740m to 1,500m elevation. Serviced by 5 lifts, the resort is known for its excellent grooming standards, panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, and convenient hotel-to-slope access via the Akakura Kanko Hotel.

While smaller than its neighbor Akakura Onsen, the resort compensates with superior snow quality and a more relaxed atmosphere. The upper mountain connects with Akakura Onsen ski area, giving visitors access to a broader terrain network. The resort receives the same legendary Myoko snowfall of around 1,200cm annually. It is particularly popular with intermediate skiers who enjoy cruising on beautifully groomed slopes, though there are challenging steep sections for advanced riders as well.
